We took Eloise in for her 2 week check up a day early so she was 13 days old.
Here are her stats:
Weight -- 7 lbs 12 oz 33%
Length -- 20.75" 70%
Head -- 37 cm 77%
She was down an ounce from her birth weight but she was due for a feeding so that probably would've boosted her up. Her length increased by 1.25" so the nurse said she either grew quite a bit, stretched out her body more, or they didn't measure her very accurately at birth. Hmmm...
Most of her little umbilical piece fell off the night before but there was still a good size black chunk in her belly button. Steve and I planned to leave it there until it finished drying up and fell off... however, the doctor (maybe feeling a little too sure of himself) decided he would "take care of it." So he took a DRY swab, stuck it in her belly button, and started twisting. Then the blood came. It was all over her tummy and his fingers. He felt really stupid and said, "Yeah we'll just let that dry out and fall off" as he's jamming the swab in to help stop the bleeding. Dumb doctor! Needless to say I wasn't impressed with him and made our next appointment with his partner.

Eloise did great with the PKU slice to her foot.
She only cried for a minute and then settled right down.
It's amazing how a milk-filled mommy can fix anything :)

What sweet memories you have of your grandfather. He sounds like a remarkable man.
Eloise is just adorable. Peyton had a huge jump in height like that too at 2 weeks. Love those tall babies! Is this the same doctor that delivered you? Your not having very good luck with doctors.... I have never heard of them removing. Poor girl, well Em you look AMAZING! That caption should read two skinny girls :)
